It had been one of those days in Bevin Port. Lorelei had been crazy tied down at the Inn her Mother owned and her own place of work. It wasn't always busy, mostly during the warm seasons if anything, which it was summer so the place was packed with traveling tourists and day trippers. While Lorelei was able to get away from work, escaping the wicked establishment for the end of her shift, Genesis couldn't get away. Mae, Lorelei's Mother managed to rope Genesis into working a longer shift. But, the twosome made plans to regroup for dinner at their favorite joint; Joe's Crab Shack. It was a nice establishment with great food and service, already being sea side made it all that much better. Lorelei went there straight from work, figuring that she should get there and hold a table for them so they wouldn't have to wait when Genesis did get off. She didn't change out of work attire, especially since she didn't have a uniform outside of the occasional apron. All she did was let her curly brunette locks out of it's updo, sporting her paint covered flannel, tank top and jeans into the restaurant.

Much like The Serenity Inn, Joe's Crab Shack had been packed to the rim with tourists galore and locals alike, leaving Rory and his co-workers running to and fro in the restaurant in between dance numbers and the other interactive activities that made the restaurant so popular amongst the seaside folk in Bevin Port. However, the night was beginning to burn out and people were returning to their homes, country inns, and other such abodes, allowing Rory and his co-workers the first flickers of downtime they had seen all night long. They'd just finished partaking in some of the usual Happy Birthday shenanigans with one of the customers and everyone had scattered to start busing and cleaning other tables about the restaurant. Rory had taken to cleaning up a table adorned in seafood pots and drinks galore that overlooked a seaside view with oceanic waves lapping gently at the sand when he happened to glance up at the table occupied by a lone wolf of a girl.

She had been there for quite some time now, Rory had noticed. Initially he thought she was waiting for a date of some sort, but now, after having waited so long in the same perch, Rory was convinced that she had indeed been waiting for a date and was unluckily stood up.

Lorelei had been sitting in her and Genesis's usual booth, picking at the sleeves of her flannel idly. She was starting to get tired what with all the waiting, the festivities didn't wake her much; really they exhausted her more than anything. But above all else, hunger was winning out on her. And anyone who had been at an event with food in the company of Genesis knew that she would get mighty upset when the meal began without her. And unlike her aggressive counterpart, Lorelei isn't a fighter, nor is she violent or mean at all. So against her best friend and room mate, Lorelei would be no match; not even in the slightest. But it was so late, and she worked all day without a bite to eat; how was she supposed to wait any longer and watch all these day trippers eat? Oh yeah, Genesis got paid today.

"Guess I can wait longer." Lorelei said to herself under her breath, pressing her face to the table pathetically.

Rory pursed his lips at the look of utter defeat on the girl's face before she promptly pressed her face into the table, losing any fight she had left in her evidently. Out of pity, he set down the rag he'd taken up to wipe the table and proceeded to step around the mess he was tending to, moving on to clean up another mess, so to speak. He casually made his way over to the girl's table and put his arms behind his back hesitantly leaned over as to be "eye-to-eye" with her.

"Uh, hey there, is everything okay?" He asked. It had always been in Rory's nature to be the considerate type, even to strangers.

Lorelei peeked up her head up at the stranger addressing her, her gorgeous blue eyes blinking at him as she did so. She wasn't shy by any means, nor was she very outgoing or friendly. So this didn't startle her nor encourage any form of particular behavior.

"Yeah, fine. Just waiting on my friend is all." Lorelei said, exhaling through her nose in a defeated manner. "Thank you for asking though." She added, propping her head up on the table more upright.

"Oh, you're welcome. I just thought it was the appropriate thing to do, I mean, you know...what with you getting stood up and all." Rory said with pursed lips and a nod before he realized the carelessness in his choosing of words, to which he promptly donned a look of panic and shook his head. "Which is totally messed up, you know? How any guy could stand a girl up like this. It just seems super rude and stuff." He sputtered, trying to sweep up his previous statement.

Lorelei couldn't help but laugh at the gentleman's instant panic. One, it was cute and awkward. Secondly, he thought that by friend she meant some guy when really it was just Genesis. After her laughter trailed off she sat up and she raked a hand through her hair and slouched against the seat.

"No no no, not at all." She began shaking her head. "My friend, my room mate, she's running late is all. Being stood up would be pretty rude but, as we share a living space I'll see her eventually." Lorelei finished with a dimpled smile.

"Oh...well in that case I guess it isn't that big of a deal." Rory said, offering an embarrassed chuckle. "Does she stand you up often?" He teased as he reached up and tousled his own hair a bit and offered a half grin as he became more relaxed.

"Um...Now that you mention it, yeah." Lorelei said with a laugh and a grin. "You've probably seen me plenty, sittin' here by myself for about four hours." She continued to joke as she conversed with the kind stranger.

"Oh yeah, you do look kind of familiar, don't you?" Rory said, a smile still catching on his lips as he gave Lorelei a brief look over. She was a pretty little thing, a treat for the eyes, with bouncy brown tendrils, bright blue eyes, and a freckled complexion.

"I ought to, I'm here all the time; but I'm sure you see so many people all day that faces tend to blur." Lorelei nodded, folding her hands over each other on the table; leaning forward a bit. She would never be one for romance, it just wasn't in the cards. But she had to admit, he was attractive. "I'm Lorelei by the way." She said finally, extending her hand then to shake his.

"I'm Rory, Rory O'Callaghan, dancer and server extraordinaire." A corner of Rory's mouth lifted into a quirky half grin, one that was practically famous amongst his co-workers and personal regular's alike. "It's nice to meet you, Miss Lorelei." He nodded as he took her hand and gave it a light shake.

"The pleasure is all mine." Lorelei nodded, her dimpled grin widening somewhat when she saw the adorable half smile of Rory's. She looked at him a moment before the sound of footsteps approached her.

"Sorry I'm late, your Mother is ridiculous." A voice announced upon arrival. Sure enough it was a tall and skinny girl, with long brown hair; mostly in her eyes. She looked like someone from a punk rock video with her band wristband merch, chucks and scuffed up straight legs. But it wasn't her evident rebellious punk rock exterior that made her intimidating if revered as such; it was her steely stare and unimpressed demeanor that made most slug away. This was Genesis. "Now now, what's this? You're replacing me with some crab shack cutie?" She inquired with a crooked grin as she slid into the booth beside Lorelei.

Lorelei's face flushed immediately.

"Huh? What? No, not at all." She stammered quickly.

Initially, a bashful shade of red crept up on Rory when Lorelei's partner in crime showed up, however, his own sheepish blush was quickly subdued and replaced by a whimsical chuckle and smile when he noted Lorelei's reaction, stammering blush and all.

"I just thought I'd keep her company since she'd been sitting here for so long and was beginning to look awful lonesome." He explained with a light nod as he tore his gaze from Lorelei's flushing cheeks and over to her punk rocker chic friend.
